Founder Valdiny grew up in Suriname (often referred to as “The Pearl of the Amazone") where cassava was a staple in her mother’s kitchen. She soon learned about the health benefits of the root, and its sustainability as a crop thanks to its drought tolerance. So, with three words for inspiration – sustainable, healthy, and gluten-free – and touch of cassava nostalgia, Valdiny founded Cassava Kitchen in May 2020.
